Writing in Obsidian

There are two Markdown (md) editors that I like. Obsidian and Typora. Obsidian for its breadth and all the things that it offers. And Typora for its simplicity. Writing in Obsidian offers a broader set of features and, more importantly, a rich ecosystem of plugins. Then I also think that Obsidian can be a better workplace tool than Typora, albeit with a limited set of plugins.

Writing blog posts

That said, having moved my website to Jekyll based setup, and not wanting to depend on Substack or Medium for longform publication, I wanted to to write using a tool that I am most comfortable with. So that come out to be Obsidian.

Why not just keep using IDE (VSCode and clones)

UI - That’s the answer. For writing, my brain works better with Obsidian. Thats it.

Publish through Obsidian

So, with my intention to use Obsidian to write my blog posts came the desire to directly publish from Obsidian. There was no plugin that would allow me to push my website - so I built one. Jequill: An obsidian plugin to post blog posts on your Jekyll blog. Write in Obsidian - post through Jekyll. And I vibe-coded it.
